What do these rich guys spend? What, 1$/gram? And then it is for parts that can't take
week in week out training rides. I did spend alot for my mtb frame...$1200.00 on sale but I suspect my slightly heavier Schwinn S10 will do as well when the Ellsworth breaks in the typical fashion. Hey, it was my graduation present to myself. I really wanted an old corvette but the wife was preggo with the twins and I settled for bike. I have been "struggling" with losing more weight. Dropped from 200# to 165# in just a few months. Since then its been slow. But lately I have started hammering hard and often and like magic I trade pain and fun for lbs instead of $.
Like a week ago I was at about 160#, today I am 156.8. That would cost $1500.00 and I would be in worse shape too. Really, I would need t0 buy off probably 4 or 5 lbs at least to catch me on the climbs today. Which brings me to this weekend's offroad ride report. FountainHead again. 3 laps again. But no one to chase or outrun and I popped off a PR matching ~53:40 1st lap.
Within 10s is close enough for me. Backed it up with 55:10 and 58:00 laps. Thought about doing another but the fun was gone and my bike handling was sloppy and dangerous. Many trees got closer to kissing me on the 3rd lap so I called it. Cool...rode easier and matched last weeks all out hammer effort, on climbs that is. Legs were not so fresh today. Been riding like every day this week. SM100 is soon and Poor Mountain Hill Climb is in Oct. I hope to get down to 145# by Sept.

On a different note, there should be like a skull and crossed bones sign at FH. When I was packing the car to go home some regular middle aged looking folks with like Hybrid type bikes and 1.5" road tread were getting set to ride the trail. "Is it beginner friendly" they asked. I said they should bring a cell phone in case someone gets hurt. Maybe they wised up at the 1st bailout.
