I set out to hammer out maybe 100 miles today on the 3 mile neighborhood loop I mapped and tested a few days ago. My theory that my legs do not know the difference between 200W uphill at 7 mph and 200W at 21 mph (guestimates) seems to be true. Only 50 miles and the joy ride became pain. So, being a wuss, and needing to get my taxes done, I called it at 50. Fascisist winds also helped increase the suffering. Still, I managed to ride around 18 mph avg for the 1st 30 miles before fatigue started to show. So now I do not really need to drive to the hills to get my training in. I guess the only real difference between 200W on flat vs 200W on a hill is psychological. Now if I could just lose those next 20 lbs that nag me going uphill so bad.
So far I have dropped about 10 lbs this Spring. Now I am at last Summer's weight. Want 145# for 6 Gaps May 23. Can DO it. I think my goal weight has shifted down alot. Now I want to get down to 125#, no lower. Too bad my wife prefers fat Dave.
Just decided this week to enter the Poor Mountain Hillclimb bike race in October. I am hoping to fit some large cross type tyres and do it on my road bike. Now for taxes...grrr.
Why are the instructions such a pain. I am not dumb but the sh.. is frustrating as some Thermodynamics homework problems I did in college.
