Well, they say that being copied is the sincerest form of flattery. I got this post title from Little Green Footballs and liked it so here starts my version. This will be the longest, as it is the first.
It started when I decided to get my old body back. 6 years of working my way through college , beer, and lack of exercise got me about 50 lbs overweight. One big problem was lack of sticktuitiveness on my part. So I needed a goal to be the focus of my training and I found just that when I stumbled on the SM100 (Shenandoah Mountain 100) while browsing the MORE (Mid Atlantic Offroad Enthusiasts) website. This is a 100 mile offroad mountainbike race in September. This is so overthetop that I decided to do it. Now, the trails around Fairfax, VA are pretty good, but since moving to Front Royal, VA, my biking has really taken off. And I have taken off some weight too. About 20 lbs since April 2007, only about 30 more to go before the race. Hopefully I can get some sponsorship money from my employer to lighten my bike and also give the company some visibility too in the mountainbike world.
Now for today's ride: 51 miles on Skyline Drive with no fascist wind or heat. Avg speed:10.2mph.
